That's what makes things difficult !!! She is very fussy what she will wear or where she'll shop....And its been perfume so many times that its boring as she could set up a stall !!! LOL
I have opted for flowers in the end .... always acceptable as she keeps the house filled with them.....I'll just try to find something unusual Very Happy

Not many sleeps now till Neil arrives home !!! Did he get is visa without any problems this time ? You are a brave soul to go sans PJ's at this time of year !

Im afraid my mince pies will be Asda's best as will the pudding ! I just couldnt cope with making this year....I think all the stress is just catching up with me! It has been a fraught year !!! Im just getting over dysentery - I just seem to be going from one problem to another lately Hehehe... Duz I remindz u of sumbuddy ?

This year we will be at home but will have my grandson Paul with us Very Happy ....depending on the weather we may visit / be visited by Hazel and Simon...They were planning on going to Cyprus - had tickets bought etc - but had to cancel due to work commitments....Same thing happened last year.....such a shame !!!

LOL

I think flowers are a good choice, like Hazal, l adore them and always have flowers in the house.

Have you noticed the advert above has my B&B on its books Very Happy

2 more sleeps and my man will be home, so excited.

No, problems so far for Neil apart from being imformed there is strict security at the airport and passengers are having to be at the airport 4 hours before departure which means he needs his passport tomorrow as he won't be able to go to work Wednesday as he needs to get to the airport by midday and as it takes a good hour to get to there it wouldn't be viable for him to go to work, l just hope he will get through trouble free but knowing what l know there is bound to be something to keep Neil occupied.

He was given a brand new Hyundai Sonata car today, It had been promised for quite some time and today it happened, he is well pleased with it.

Thats a real shame for hazal not being able to go to Cyprus, l loved our holidays there, we were thinking of buying a property there.

I don't blame you for having a quiet Xmas with your Grandson after the turmoil you have been through, bet you will enjoy it never the less.

Ours will be quiet, just the two of us as out British friends are going to the UK and our French ones are travelling to spend it with their families.

Now lets get down to the nitty gritty ~ New Year Resolutions !!!! Very Happy

Idea What resolutions are you planning ????

Idea Remember....a resolution is a desire to create a new and better habit

To be successful it must be :-

1 Achievable - be realistic with your target
2 Positive
3 Personal to you
4 Measurable

It takes between 21 and 45 days to create a new habit, so persevere !!! Mark each successful day on a calendar !

If you have a bad day dont give up....just start again at the beginning !!!

When you're ready to begin the diet let me know and l will start also, need the motivation so working together might help.

Lovely avatar !!!!!

It pretended to thaw yesterday although it wasnt a degree warmer !!! It just turned wet and slushy then froze....then more snow on top of it - really treacherous !!! Today the roads are just a sheet of ice, packed down by the passage of traffic and snow on top of it again.....Its snowing at the moment but freezing at the same time so we are getting little frozen balls instead of lovely feathery white flakes Brrrr !!! Its a good job we like soup !!! It seems to be the only thing that warms us up !!!
Did you get any snow while Neil was home ? I bet you had to fish out the long johns anyway !!! Very Happy The weather's just a little bit different to what he is used to !!! Very Happy
No mail from Liz so I think she must have gone to UK as planned.....I'm sure she said last two weeks in January....Hope they travel safely !
Anyway... you take care hon.... keep wrapped up warm...I'll try to get myself motivated Very Happy

Awwww ! What a shame !!! You got your camera ready for nothing ROFL Laughing Twisted Evil

Fortunately we are not far from Asda - the bus terminus is about 5 minutes walk from the house with buses every 10 minutes through the day....In good weather its a walkable distance....apart from Asda there is a fish and chip shop / Domino's pizza / dry cleaners / video shop / hairdresser+beauty shop / vet / sandwich shop....
Halfway between home and asda there is another little block of shops...chinese takeaway / cooperative convenience store / small teashop / Indian takeaway / Curves 30 minute fitness studio ( very expensive ) / hairdressers + beauty shop/ They are only small shops but fulfil everyday needs.....and of course we could always go into the city on the bus... When I bought this house I took into account that we might not always have the use of a car , and I also had to consider Clive who will never drive....
Not bad for forward planning eh ? Very Happy
Well its snowing again ....time for some soup methinks !!!!
A bientot ma cherie x

PS Love the cheeky robin Very Happy x

You are nice and handy for everything by the sounds of it, we are right out in the sticks actually nothing but fields and a couple of houses a mile away, the village has a good few shops including a Carrefour which is really handy, takes less than 10 minutes by car but l can walk it in 30 minutes, longer on the return journey as part of it is up hill.

Have you lost all the snow now? ours has gone but we have high winds and rain, did manage to do a little pottering in the only flower bed yesterday but actually it is really too wet underfoot, the moles are having a high old time on my grass Rolling Eyes

Was hoping to get my new toy out (rotovater) and work the veggie patch but alas far too damp.

Neil has rain, thunder and lightening out there today lol!

Tried calling Liz this morning but only the answerphone so maybe she is still away.

Have you heard anything from moaning minnie lately?

Grrrr.....I was locked out of the forum.....then when I did get in there was a message that I wasnt allowed to post !!!! Got it sorted now though....

I havent played with my new toy yet..... too blummin' cold !!! We took Clive to work and Ron decided he would take some shots of the beach / harbour etc... so collected all his gear and off we went....He was bit miffed because I wouldnt get out of the car...but who's a clever girl???? He took 4 photos and Mr "I never feel the cold " got back in the car with his hands turning blue !!! It was even colder this morning it has snowed yet again but it had frozen as well....we couldnt even scrape the windows on the car !! How I long for some sun !!!
I havent heard from Liz....she did phone a couple of weeks ago but I missed the call as I was at the hospital with Ron... Maybe the weather forced them to stay in uk longer than anticipated ....
Havent heard a dickybird from Minniehaha since the upheaval .... ...

Wondered what had happened to you Smile

It certainly would be nice to have some sun but better still some dry weather, its either snowing or raining, even raining in Saudi yesterday.

Had a reply to my e-mail from Liz the other day, will call her after the weekend, she has only just returned to France.

I am itching to get out on my veggie patch with my new toy but when l really don't know, have bought my spuds lol!

Take care, keep warm.

Re: Glad to be here

I so agree !!!! If only it would warm up a bit !!!!

Had a phone call from Liz yesterday..... She and Neil have both had flu since returning from UK.... Neil seems to have thrown it off but Liz is still suffering...she is having respiratory problems and is feeling really poorly....
They did enjoy their trip though in spite of the flu Very Happy

They have come up against a snag with the sale of their house....The couple still want it but the french mortgage company says they need to put a larger deposit down.....The wifie is so distressed she couldnt even talk to Liz because she couldnt stop sobbing.....
Liz has told them not to worry - just keep doing what is necessary to get the mortgage approved....as she pointed out, its not very likely that a cash buyer is going to appear in the next couple of weeks !!! In the meantime she is just going to keep things running... It wont seem so bad with a possible end in view will it ?
I have had such a lovely day today !!! Lots and lots of birthday wishes and cards.... Clive was working but Ron took me out for a drive....we started off going to the Sunday market at Thainstone near Inverurie....It wasnt very busy - still very cold - but I got some peanuts and sunflower hearts for the birds ....We decided to trust the Satnav and go to visit Hazel....normally she would visit me especially on my birthday but her car is playing up and is in the garage for repairs - if they can find the recurring problem....we followed all the directions and found ourselves further way from Hazel than we had been before we left home !!!! DRAT !!! However.....we stopped in Ellon and went to Chocolate.....had delicious coffee and crepes.... then made our way home.... we had only just arrived when Paul, my grandson, arrived acting as messenger Very Happy He and Hazel had cooked things up between them....On the 27th....Paul , Hazel and a couple of very dear friends are taking me out to dinner and then on to the theatre to see The Mousetrap - I think its the first time its ever left London ! On top of that There was an enormous bouquet of glorious Stargazer lilies.....They are the nicest ones I have ever seen....5 or 6 flowers on each stem !!!
On top of that I have had money to buy myself something nice....and gadgets for the new camera Very Happy I have been thoroughly spoiled !!!
And as if all that was not enough not only did it stop raining but the sun came out and shone all day - 8 degrees C !!!! Quite a change from minus 2 C
All in all a lovely happy day !!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing cheers queen
