These jewelled Florentines make a lovely Christmas treat for friends and family with a sweet tooth. These simple food gifts are sure to put a smile on anyone's face
Ingredients
30g butter
30g light muscovado sugar
1 level tbsp honey
2 level tbsp plain flour
30g glacé cherries, chopped
30g chopped mixed peel
50g roasted, salted mixed nuts, chopped
150g dark chocolate, melted and tempered
15-hole silicone tartlet mould
These sweet treats would look perfect given in cellophane presentation bags if giving as gifts
Method
Set the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.
Melt the butter, sugar and honey in a small pan over a low heat, then add the flour to the pan and mix until smooth. Take the pan off the heat and stir in the cherries, mixed peel and chopped nuts.
Divide the mixture between the cavities in the tartlet mould, and place the mould on a baking tray. Bake in the centre of the oven for 10-12 mins, or until the mixture is bubbling and is a light golden colour, then remove from the oven and leave the Florentines to cool in the mould.
Remove them from the mould, then clean the mould and dry it well.
Spoon a teaspoon of tempered chocolate into 5 of the cavities and place a Florentine back in to each one, pressing it down until the chocolate just starts to come up over the top. Repeat to fill another 5 cavities, then finish filling the tray. Leave to set.
